Harper College

Harper College's Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) program revolves around the nursing process, in which students are taught to assess, analyze, plan, implement and evaluate to contribute to, and participate in, the development and implementation of the client's plan of care. Students receive a certificate in practical nursing (LPN) after completion of one year and an associate in applied science degree in nursing at the end of year two. Joliet Junior College

The program combines classroom experience with clinical experience at community health care facilities. Students who complete the program are awarded Certificates of Achievement and are eligible to take the NCLEX-PN test for licensure as an LPN in Illinois. The nursing program is full-time, and is quite rigorous. Classroom time and clinical time comes to approximately 18 hours per week with an extra 20 hours or more needed for preparation and studying. Triton's LPN program gives students a basic knowledge of nursing theory and practice as well as Humanities and Social and Biological Sciences.
