Manager of Technical Services
Reports to: Chief Financial Officer
Direct Reports: Senior Technical Services Specialist
Position Type: Full-time position. Requires availability to provide technical assistance after hours and on weekends.
Position Summary: Oversees information technology for Spertus.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
Management
· Oversees and administers the day-to-day IT function.
· Manages the desktop office environment, telephone/data communication system, and the local area network.
· Executes strategic, tactical and operational IT goals and objectives.
· Advises and supports functional departments in the design and implementation of department specific information systems.
· Supports existing platforms: PC and Linux servers, PC and Mac clients, and special purpose systems within the Musuem, Library and College.
· Specifies and procures IT hardware, software, and (as needed) support.
· Identifies inefficiencies and designs solutions to minimize them.
Administration
· Prepares and administers budget.
· Monitors and evaluates IT function.
· Develops policies and procedures, makes short-term and long-term recommendations for improvements.
· Develops strategic goals and objectives.
· Chairs the Technology Committee, which reviews current technology policies, develops solutions and makes recommendations to the Administrative Officers.
· Negotiates and administers vendor contracts.
Supervision
· Determines staffing needs.
· Assigns daily tasks and responsibilities.
· Participates in managing aspects of personnel functions including hiring, training and evaluating technical support staff.
Qualifications
Excellent communication skills.
Microsoft Windows network experience.
5 years in network administration or technical support.
Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate experience with
· Blackbaud Accounting for Non-Profits 6.4
· Blackbaud The Raiser’s Edge 7.7
· Symantec Backup Exec version 11d
· Kaspersky AntiVirus 6.0 / Kaspersky Administration Kit
· Citrix Presentation Server 4.0
· Robinsoft Corporation Gradpro
· Ex-Libris Aleph (Library collection software)
· Ex-Libris DigiTool (Digital archives database)
· Willoughby MIMSY XG (Museum collection software)
· Microsoft Retail Management System
· ReServe Catering Software
· Vendini Ticketing System
· Zimbra Collaboration Suite
Knowledge of Hebrew language and experience with Hebrew software.
Mac experience.
