AltusWorks is an architecture firm with a staff of 6 that specializes in historic preservation and the renovation of existing structures. As we expand our client base, we would like to add a project architect to our staff who has 7 – 10 years experience with preservation, historic structures, facility analyses, and building science and technology.
The successful candidate will lead project teams on diverse repair, renovation and adaptive reuse projects as well as participate in corporate marketing, strategic planning, and client management. Altusworks’ current clients and project types include: Façade repairs for University of Illinois at Chicago; interior renovations of laboratories at the University of Chicago; renovation of an historic fieldhouse for the Chicago Park District; an 8,900 s.f. build-out for a new office condo, renovation of an historic storefront located in the Historic Michigan Boulevard District, ADA surveys and Schematic Design renovation solutions for Chicago Public Schools.
Prior experience must include preservation projects, project management and construction document development. The candidate should display a solid understanding of building repair technology and should have experience preparing technical specifications. The candidate should have the ability to evaluate conditions in the field based on visual observation and then quickly generate a scope of work that describes the required repairs/renovations. Equally important is the ability to communicate with clients, consultants, contractors and co-workers effectively and professionally at all times, both verbally and in written documents. The candidate must be proficient in ACAD2007 and Microsoft Office.
