Job Description
Due to continued growth, Video Furnace has an opening for a Support Engineer. This role works with the Engineering group by installing, configuring, testing, upgrading and supporting Linux based IP video systems, performing remote installs/upgrades, customer phone support, remote network based support and configuration and occasional customer site installs. Additional details include:
-Assemble, install, and configure Linux based IP video distribution systems and verify proper pre-deployment configuration before the systems ship to customer sites.
-Diagnose, update and fix customer issues remotely via SSH, along with providing phone support and guidance.
-Setup protection for portal tools and help customers implement custom launch applets.
-Diagnose and resolve issues related to multicast problems, hardware problems, software configuration issues, or network configuration errors.
-Ensure that customer requests are documented, tracked and resolved in a timely manner to maintain customer satisfaction and escalate urgent problems requiring more in-depth knowledge.
-Assist with the regression testing of development issues.
-Have a positive customer-oriented attitude, solid verbal and written English communications skills, ability to manage priorities, and strong initiative to accomplish tasks.
Qualifications
-Bachelor's degree (or Associate degree + relevant experience) in Computer-related technology.
-Strong experience with the Linux operating system, networking and network administration principles and practices.
-One or more years working in a customer service environment is highly desirable.
