Author Initiatives is a brand-new and ambitious program looking for a technical leader to take it from idea to fruition. The aim of the program is to provide an outlet for the tremendous passion and commitment of authors (and eventually artists, actors, etc.) to make Amazon the very best place to learn about your favorite authors and discover new ones. We are seeking a senior software developer to be the technical lead for this program.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- You have a BS in Computer Science or a related field and 5+ years of industry experience. During that time, you have developed outstanding Java or C++ skills and AJAX (JavaScript, HTML, CSS) expertise.
- Ideally, you also have Mason and/or Perl experience.
- You are an analytical, results-oriented software developer.
- You are extremely technical and have signficant experience developing scalable web applications, with a penchant for building elegant and maintainable systems that get the job done with minimal complexity.
- You love to get stuff done, and have a long track-record of shipping user-centric, high-quality software.
- You have excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to communicate effectively with senior management, and an intense customer focus.
- You are passionate about mentoring more junior software engineers.
- You are low drama, and would rather build things than endlessly discuss them.
- You build the right product for your customers, and you pride yourself on delivering products on-time against time deadlines.
Amazon.com is recruiting for Seattle-based opportunities. Relocation to Seattle, WA is required.
