About Us:
We are a Chicago-based retailer that has been in business since 1984. We are one of the country’s leading distributors of high quality tanning equipment, supplies and consulting services. We have approximately 38 remote Chicago offices that have 2-3 Windows workstations installed. We also have 4 Ohio based offices. Our corporate office is located in Chicago and has an additional 30 users. These LAN users have both locally installed applications and Citrix-based applications. In the coming year we plan to add additional locations and users. We are interested in exploring new technologies such as VOIP and Video to streamline operations.
Job Description:
We are seeking a Director of Information systems that has both technical and managerial skills. This person will be responsible for the strategic direction and visionary leadership of a team of two IS staff responsible for project management, operations management, application deployment, end-user support, and reporting on technology projects.
This position will report directly to the President of the company and will direct the technology vision. The candidate must have excellent communication skills, strong leadership qualities and management experience. The candidate is a team player who will assist department heads through new technology to enhance effectiveness and efficiency throughout the company.
Technical Requirements:
Windows Networking (Microsoft Windows 2000/2003):
• Monitor server performance
• Monitor and manage Citrix connections.
Wide-area Networking
• Troubleshoot down Internet connections at local and remote sites
• Monitor and troubleshoot VPN connections to remote sites
Backup / Restore:
• Working familiarity with Brightstor Arcserve.
• Monitor nightly backup job(s), configure accordingly.
• Field data restore requests from users.
Assist with telephone calls from local and remote users for support:
• Troubleshoot connectivity problems.
• Troubleshoot Citrix-based applications issues.
• Troubleshoot Citrix-based printing issues.
• Troubleshoot locally installed applications for LAN and WAN users.
• Troubleshoot various PC-based issues.
Coordinate higher-level technical work with outside technology consulting firm.
Administrative:
• Review, organize, and approve invoices from telecom vendors, consulting firms, and other IT related vendors.
• Maintain inventory of software, licensing, and computer / networking hardware.
Qualifications:
• Microsoft Certified Professional (MCSE preferred)
• Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA) or equivalent
• Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or equivalent preferred; advanced degree further qualifies
• 5-10 years experience managing skilled, knowledgeable and professional staff in an IS environment
• Proven project planning skills/success
